I'm Ryan Strain, and I'm a singer. Check out my demos on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/RyanStrain
I perform a variety of different styles of vocals, mostly in the metal genre, but with experience in many others. I started getting heavily into learning the art around the summer of 2008, and have been perfecting it ever since. I'm self-taught, and still learning new things every day. I have tons of cool things on my Youtube, so go check it out!
I do silly vocal covers on Youtube as a hobby, and I'm the lead vocalist for Recode the Subliminal.

I might actually have some REAL news for you this weekend! LETS KICK THIS YEAR OFF!
Attention friends: If you or someone you know (a close friend or family member) is currently in the military or a veteran, or if you lost someone you love in the line of duty, I'm going to be doing a special song sometime this year in their honor. This goes for anyone around the world, no matter what country or branch of the military you/they serve(d). What I need from you, only if you and the families are comfortable, is to send me a picture or a short video of them as well as their name and some brief info that I'll go over with you at the time. You can message me here on this page or email me at email@example.com
If you don't know anyone personally, share this for someone who might be interested. Thanks
Once I'm able to record again (by the end of this month), I have a long list of paid commission and guest spots I've written, as well as a few more Sea of Trees and C4TM songs to record. Amongst all of this work, I also have a lot of covers planned, but not the kind that you expect (or maybe hope for). I think I've gotten everything I can get out of covering metal songs now that I'm writing so much of my own with so many great bands and musicians. I'll still do some if it's a collaboration with someone else, but very rarely on my own.
What you can expect from me this year, amongst all of the original metal, are covers focused completely on singing, whether they're gospel, pop, opera, etc. I've improved so much since last year, and fell in love with so many great songs that will help showcase my singing.
Now, I know that whenever I cover a softer song, I always get comments from people who are outraged that I'm "giving up metal" or they ask if I left all of my bands, as if I can't do multiple music styles at once. I'm telling you now, none of that is true, and I will never give up metal. I just enjoy performing many different styles. My channel is not called "Ryan Strain Metal", it's just called "Ryan Strain", and that means it encompasses all I'm about. If there's a video you're not interested in, you're not required to watch it. Just patiently wait for the next one.
Now that we got that out of the way, who's ready to get this year started?
2016 was a rough year full of a lot of negativity, self-loathing, and anger. I discovered that male postpartum depression was a very real and destructive thing, not only to myself, but to everyone around me. I felt that I had lost everything that I had worked for the past 7 years. I felt I had given up everything that made me who I am. I would tell myself all day every day that nobody cared, and that I was worthless. I felt that I must not have been worth caring about, otherwise, people close to me would be helping me get back what I lost. After discovering what was actually wrong with me, it gave me a chance to really accept and decide how I wanted to deal with it.
- Get my vocal booth before the end of this month
- Get off of graveyard shift
- Be more thoughtful and helpful at home
- Think more positively
- Manage my stress and anger
- Eat less fast food
- Rely less on the attention and acceptance of others and find my own confidence
- Make more music and bring life back to my channel
- Embrace my baritone range and stop trying to sing higher than I can
- Check my phone/Facebook less
- Stop comparing myself to others and trying to compete where there is no competition
- Respond to every fan message I can
- Stop using "nobody cares anyway" as an excuse to not do things
Small update: I've taken on some paid work, as well as various other songs I'm involved in, and I have a lot of stuff ready to go. There's someone who's supposed to be building my booth for me, but I haven't heard any news about it in a while. As soon as I have it, things are going to take off.
